It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leah Owens after a brief illness.
Leah was born in Terrace, the first child of Jack and Sally Smaha. She attended public school in Thornhill and Terrace and graduated from Caledonia Senior Secondary in 1983. After taking a bookkeeping course at Capilano College in North Vancouver she returned to Terrace to do the books for her father’s company, Jasak Logging Ltd.
In 1990 she married Ross Owens and together they built a good life and a lovely house.
As she gained experience she was called upon to work for other businesses as well. She was honest and respected for her good work. She was devoted to her husband, family, and many friends. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for anyone.
Leah will be greatly missed by her husband Ross, his parents, Ron & Hope Owens, brother in law, Rod Owens, her parents, Jack & Sally Smaha, brother Larry (Liz) Smaha, nephew Sheldon Smaha, Grandma Marion Clift, Grandma Hilda Smaha and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends and her two little dogs, Freebe and Jackson.
