VARNER - KATHLEEN It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Varner at the Oilfields Hospital, Black Diamond, Alberta on October 22nd 2004.

She was predeceased by her husband, Slim Varner in 1979, her parents Charles and Margaret Durham and by her sisters and brothers. She will be greatly missed by her children, Kate (Lewis) Dickson of High River, Don Varner of Terrace and Joan (Ken) Christensen of Okotoks along with her grandchildren Brett, Brad and Joanna Barstad and Michael and Melanie Varner and numerous nieces and nephews and their families and by her special friend Roberta Barber.

Kay was born in Kitselas in 1908 and moved to Usk in 1917. She was taught at home by her mother until she went to high school in Smithers. She became a teacher and taught school in Usk and Pacific. Kay married Slim in 1934 and they made their home in Usk. They then moved to Prince Rupert where Slim worked in the dry dock during the war and where their children were born. In 1946, they returned to Usk.

In later years they moved to Terrace where they resided at The Willows. Kay will be remembered by her family and her many friends for her interest in life and her kindness to others. The coffee pot was always on and she was always ready for a game of cards. Her skill at crossword puzzles was well known.

A memorial service will be held at the Salvation Army Church, Terrace on Saturday, November 6th at 2:00 p.m.

Cremation took place at Parklawn Crematorium, High River, AB.
