(Chretien) (nee Ede)

Kathleen “Kay” Annie Emma

Kay passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Abbotsford, BC at the age of 80 years.

Kay was born on June 24, 1927 to Gordon and Mary Ede in Queen Charlotte City and spent most of her growing up years in Victoria. In 1947 she married John Chretien in Terrace and together they had 7 children. Their fifth child passed away in 1959 as an infant. Kay’s husband passed away in 1966, leaving her to raise their 6 children on her own. Later she married John Huisman of Abbotsford, a widower who had 5 children. Her children have been blessed by her enthusiasm for life, quick wit and ability to rise to any challenge life brought her way. Her sustaining strength came from her love and devotion to God. She has been a blessed example to her family and friends.

She is survived by her cousin Joan and her spouse Bob Strijckers; 6 children and their spouses, Pauline Sorbello (Chuck), Henry Chretien (Betty), Albert Chretien (Rita), Lorraine Hoving (Tim), Cecelia Dirksen (Lorin), John Chretien (Diane); 14 grandchildren and their 4 spouses; and 6 great grandchildren.

We will miss her immensely yet are thankful she is now in heaven with her Saviour and friends; free of pain, enjoying an unimaginable peace and freedom. The family would like to thank Dr. Forrester and the staff at Tabor Home for their excellent and compassionate care of our Mom. We would also like to thank Shirley Bushell for the special, tender care and comfort she provided during the past year.

A Service was held on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church on Marshall Road in Abbotsford. We invite any who have known her to come celebrate the beautiful person she was to us.
