John Daniel Chrysostom
November 15, 1944 – March 17, 2009
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to John our beloved husband, father & grandfather. He passed away suddenly while on vacation in Costa Rica. John was born in Halifax, NS. He leaves behind his wife Diane; his sons Daniel, Dylan, Iaian (Kris); and his granddaughter Piper MacCormac. John will be sadly missed by his mother Mary MacCormac; his sisters: Gwen Watson (John); Helen MacCormac; Gerarda Golding (Bill); and his brothers: Jerry MacCormac (Lorraine); Bill MacCormac (Marlene); and Ronald MacCormac (Penny). John was predeceased by his father, John MacCormac Sr.; and sister, Joan O’Hara (John).
John moved to Terrace in 1974 to work for the Public Works as a painter. He later became a carpenter, then a business agent for the Carpenter’s Union. He ended his working career as an employment counsellor for the Canada Employment Center.
John was a keen supporter of his children’s sports teams and he was very active and involved in the labour movement in Terrace. John loved to travel to Costa Rica frequently where he could put his feet up, relax and visit with his many friends there.
We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks & appreciation to all of our family and friends, near & far, who have supported us in our grief. The thoughtful cards, meals, flowers, prayers and countless acts of kindness will never be forgotten.
A funeral will be held at the Sacred Heart Parish, 4830 Straume Ave., Terrace on Saturday March 28, 2009 at 1:30 pm., reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terrace Hospice Society in John’s memory. Terrace Hospice Society, 207 – 4650 Lazelle Ave. Terrace, BC, V8G 1S6.
