Jason Mattenley

May 29, 2006

Jason Douglas Donald Mattenley

was born on June 28, 1988 in New Westminster, B.C.; and was taken from us, tragically, on May 29, 2006. Jason was vibrant and full of life - he loved to be in the great outdoors surrounded by dirt jumps - he was born to be a biker!

From the time he was little, Jason took an interest in biking, and would surround himself with some friends, a few hills, grab his bike and strategize his next move to clear those hills...the more air - the better!! Jason, also, had an interest in music, and you would often find him strumming on one of his guitars.

Recently, Jason found a new interest, and that was his welding class. He was enrolled in the trades program at the NWCC; and knew, instantly, that his career would be in the trade of welding. He talked about graduating this year, finishing the welding program at the college; then, maybe moving with his buddy, Colby; to a place where they could both pursue their careers in this trade.

Jason was devoted to his parents; and you could find him on any given day in his Dad’s back yard building dirt jumps and discussing his next move with good old Dad. There was always a friend or two along for the ride; Dad’s doors were always open to them.

Jason will be sadly missed by his parents, his sister, his grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and a host of friends.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to their neighbours, friends, and the entire Terrace community for all of the support and kindness shown throughout this tragic time. Thank you for the flowers, food, cards, phone calls, visits, spoken words of encouragement, thoughts and prayers. A special thank you goes out to the graduating class of Caledonia High and to several local businesses for your generosity, understanding and financial support. Your compassion and commitment is much appreciated.

Although not a moment passes that we don’t think of Jason and treasure all the memories he’s left us with - we take comfort in the assurance that Jason is safely resting in God’s hand. We eagerly await the day when we can see him again and spend eternity together with him.
