Janet, Emily Easton

February 1, 2008

EASTON, Janet Emily

Janet Easton passed away quietly on Feb. 1, 2008 in Terrace, BC. She was born on April 13, 1942, in Victoria, BC, the only daughter of Michael and Kay Thomas. Janet, along with four brothers, lived on a small summer farm in Chemainus, BC, where she attended school. Predeceased by her oldest brother, Ian (Laurie), and her parents, she is survived by her loving family - husband, Scott, of 44 years, and their children, Linda Kay (Alan and son, Aethan) and Michael (Sue and daughters, Annika and Lauren); and three Thomas brothers, John (Janette), Robin, and David (Lenore) and nieces and nephews.

Janet pursued a life-long teaching career, attending UVIC first to earn a provisional certificate, then returning over the years to complete her elementary teaching degree. She loved her classroom and taught in Terrace for her whole career. She was a founding member of the Terrace Child Development Centre which continues to provide services to children with special education needs.

Janet loved her garden and made it bloom despite goats and dogs and cats and long winters. Camping was always a summer adventure which often included stops at many BC heritage sites.

Thank you to everyone for your support.

Service was held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church on February 8, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Agency.
