George G. "Papa" Bergen

June 6, 2004

October 4, 1922 — June 6, 2004

George left us on June 6,2004 to be with the Lord. Predeceased by his son Kim, and survived by wife Helen, and 5 children, Chenn Bergen (Gail), Janice Milne (Harold), Dori Sallenback (Rick), Rhea Bushman (Ken), and Twylla Bergen. He was also blessed with 9 grandchildren; Raynell, Vance, Troy, Chad, Trevor, Shari, Jessica, Chelsea and Ellie and three great grandchildren.

George was born on Oct 4, 1922 in Osler, Saskatchewan. In 1946 he married Helen and moved to B.C. to open a sawmill in Houston. He then moved the family to South Bank until 1965 when the family settled in Terrace, where he remained until his passing.

He was a man of incredible integrity and compassion. A great supporter of community and organization, some of which included, The Kinsmen, Moose Lodge, and Board of Variance. He worked as a carpenter for most of his working years in Terrace and enjoyed training many young apprentice carpenters.

He was passionate about sports, Hockey being his favorite to play and watch. He watched hockey while sitting on edge of his chair, moving with every play. Trevor Linden once signed a picture of himself to George and thanked him for playing along with the game.

George made a difference, had a sense of what was fair and always looked at both sides before he made a decision. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Special thanks to Dr. Moolman, Dr. Philips

and all the wonderful nursing staff at

Mills Memorial Hospital.
