Aug. 25, 1923 - Nov. 11, 2011

Predeceased by his father Hermann, mother Marie, brother Frank, and sister Elsie.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of 59 years and daughter, Colleen (Wayne)

Emil came to Canada at the age of 9 from Lithuania with his parents, older brother and sister. They settled on a farm in Old Remo until flooding forced them to move. Emil and his brother Frank ran the Beavers

Logging Company from the early 1950’s to 1974. He met a young lady named Mary from Saskatchewan and they married on December 24, 1951. Their only daughter, Colleen was born a couple of years later. He worked hard but also had time on weekends for lots of outdoor recreation. In 1974 Emil retired from logging and built a house of his own with the help of Mary in New Remo. This allowed him to continue to do what he enjoyed most, tending to a very large garden and a few animals. He took up beekeeping for a time and continued to enjoy the great outdoors. Sixteen years later they moved back to Terrace to be closer to services.

Special thanks to Dr. Moolman and the staff at

Terraceview Lodge who provided care to Emil for the last couple of years. Their caring, kindness and understanding was

exemplary and greatly appreciated.

He will be missed by all.

A funeral service was held at Christ Lutheran Church in Terrace on November 16, 2011

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Terraceview Lodge.
