Our beautiful Mama slipped away at the age of 90. Else Klukas was born the second oldest of five children in Kronstadt (Brasov), Transylvania, Romania on July 28, 1933, to parents Jakob and Elsbeth Rauschenberger. The family emigrated to Canada in September 1951. She married Emil Klukas in Calgary, Alberta on June 19, 1954. Together they moved to Old Remo in 1960 and raised six children. The daughter of a Baptist minister, she dutifully embraced the hardships of starting in a small cabin surrounded by forest to establish a safe home for her growing family.
She is survived by her siblings, Annemarie Swartz, Gerhard Rauschenberger (Gladys) and Karin Lamont, daughters Heidi(Scott) and Christa(Brian), and her sons Gary(Rose), Andrew and Alex. Also left a legacy of 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandkids, including 2 in-laws, plus a gr. grand baby arriving in Aug. She mourned the passing of her husband in September 2016 and her son John in July, 2022. Else was known by her family and siblings as one who had endless patience for others and tenacious love for her family. In her final years she was lovingly cared for by her daughter Heidi and son-in-law Scott Davis.
For those who would like to honour her, the memorial will be held on April 6 at 2:00 pm at Thornhill Community Church at 3681 Krumm Ave, Terrace, B.C.
