Ailsa Henderson

December 12, 1921 - December 11, 2008

Our world has lost some of its promise with the passing of Ailsa Henderson. She was born in Royal Columbian Hospital on December 12, 1921 to

Margaret Marshall(Bell)[a Bemardo child} and Robert Murdoch Gillespie{a decorated WW1 veteran}. Ailsa lived in the Whonnock area, where she met and married the love of her life Thomas Eaton Henderson.

She will be sorely missed by her daughter Gail (Blois), her sister Margaret (Hodge). 9 grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Ailsa is predeceased by her husband, her children Dawn and Tommy, her sister Bobbie (Reid) and brother Bruce.

Ailsa Henderson brought great energy to all she did, and she did a lot. A tomboy, she was happiest in the sunshine, near the water or walking in the woods. In her working life she was a nurse's aid, truck driver, cook (she made the best pie) and whistle-punk before embarking on her final career in starting and running a successful taxi business in Terrace, B.C. She was highly respected for her hard work and strong ethics. After retirement, she enjoyed her family and friends, sharing so much about life.

Named after Ailsa Craig, an island in Scotland, she was our rock, especially as she lovingly nursed several family members. Our lives will be less beautiful without her.

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,

love leaves a memory no one can steal."

At Ailsa's request, there will be no service. Please visit her family bench at Whonnock Lake and take a moment to think about this amazing woman.
