Application for a Permit Amendment Under the Provisions of the Environmental Management Act

We, Pretium Resources Inc. (Pretium), operating under Newmont Corporation, PO Box 10, 2965 Tatlow Road, Smithers, BC, V0J 2N0, have submitted an application to the Director to amend the Environmental Management Act (EMA) effluent Permit PE-107835, issued August 31, 2015 (last amended August 21, 2023), which authorizes discharge of effluent from the Brucejack Mine. The amendment application requests changes to the permit to support a proposed increase in the average ore production rate from 3800 tonnes per day (tpd) to 4950 tpd.

The land upon which the facility is situated, and the discharge occurs, is Mining Lease Tenure Number 1038598, located at 56.47N and 130.19W, approximately 65 km north-northwest of Stewart BC within the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine.

The amendment application requests under existing PE-107835 Condition 1.1.1 that the characteristics of the mine effluent being discharged at the Waste Rock and Tailings Storage Facility (WRTSF) outlet (BJ 3.10) be changed to:

The amendment application requests an amendment to permit Condition 1.5.3 to increase the number of authorized Filterbox C75 domestic wastewater treatment units from three to four.
