Pilot released Sept. 9 after spending the night in hospital

The pilot of an Ocean Pacific Air seaplane that crashed on Friday, Sept. 8 has been released from hospital after being medevaced to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital.

Northern Health confirmed that the pilot was released from the hospital on Saturday, Sept. 9 after being held at the hospital overnight.

The Ocean Pacific Air seaplane the pilot was operating crashed on the morning of Sept. 8 near Ecstall River. Only the pilot was on board and he was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Sgt. Dave Uppal with the Prince Rupert RCMP.

The RCMP were notified at 8:31 a.m., Sept. 8, and attended the scene at Brown Lake, 20 kilometres up the Ecstall River.

The Transportation Safety Board is gathering data on the incident to decide whether or not to do an investigation.
