Public called to slot machine meeting

The city of Terrace is hosting a town-hall meeting tonight, asking for public input about a request to add more slot machines at Chances.

Tonight the city is hosting a town hall meeting requesting public input on a whether it should allow the local Chances to increase the number of slot machines there.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. today at Terrace's Sportsplex in the banquet room and residents who want to voice or deliver their opinion in writing can do so there.

Today's meeting was called by council after a request from the BC Lottery Corporation to add 25 more slot machines to the local gaming centre's location.

The request would require the city to either increase the allowable number of seats by that much, or remove the cap on electronic gaming seats in the city all together.

Speakers are also invited to give up to a five minute verbal presentation at the meeting tonight and are encouraged to sign up in advance by calling Alisa Thompson at 250 638 4721 or e-mailing at athompson@terrace.ca
