LISIMS/NASS Valley RCMP executed a second search warrant in as many weeks on a residence in the Nisga’a Village of Laxgalts’ap (Greenville) Feb. 10.
The residence, located at 200 Main Street, was also home to the Canada Post retail outlet that serviced this community.
With assistance from Canada Post – Security & Investigation Services, Department of Fisheries & Oceans, and a police dog team from Terrace RCMP, three adults and a youth were taken into custody from the residence. The mail delivery driver was also taken into custody.
The search confirmed heavy drug activity inside the residence linked to the postal outlet, according to police.
They also say an undisclosed quantity of cash was seized from the residence.
Canada Post authorities have closed this location has resumed mail service elsewhere in the community.
“The RCMP continues to consult with the Nisga’a Lisims Government to ensure their village’s needs are being met by developing community awareness of effective ways to prevent and reduce crime – intervening on the risk factors before crime occurs,” said a statement from the RCMP.
“This joint operation with the RCMP’s external enforcement partners sharing information and resources is a prime example of the force’s commitment to safe homes and safe communities. The matter is still under investigation.”
