Two people are safe following a small plane crash on the gravel bar along the Skeena River earlier this week.

Around 5:50 p.m. on July 17, 2017, Terrace RCMP received a report of a small aircraft crashing at the Zymacord River Junction, about 10 km west of Terrace.

People fishing and boating near the area responded to the site, which was visible from Hwy 16.

Search and Rescue, BC Ambulance, Terrace Fire and RCMP arrived soon after.

The plane’s occupants were located uninjured.

According to reports, the small orange two-seater plane had been flying for 15 minutes when it began to experience engine problems.

The pilot landed on the Skeena River gravel bar, but struck a hole, causing a tire to fall off.

Nothing criminal or environmental suspected.
