New Hazelton RCMP make an arrest

Man to appear in court today in connection with the incident

During the week of March 12th to March 18th, the New Hazelton RCMP responded to 80 calls for service.  A summary of some of the incidents is as follows:

On March 12, 2012 the New Hazelton RCMP stopped a vehicle for speeding as it passed through Gitsegukla on Hwy 16.  The male driver was determined to not hold a valid drivers license, and to be prohibited from driving.

The vehicle was impounded, and the driver was issued a violation ticket for speeding.  The male driver also now has an upcoming court date for driving while prohibited.

On March 16, 2012 the New Hazelton RCMP received a complaint of an intoxicated male on Hwy 62 near the Gitanmaax Food and Fuel.  The New Hazelton RCMP attended and located the intoxicated male, who is well known to police.

The male is currently on probation, including conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol.  The male was arrested for breach of probation.  Once sober, the male was released with an upcoming court date.

On March 16, 2012, the New Hazelton RCMP received a complaint of an intoxicated male attempting to force his way into a residence in New Hazelton.  The male was well known to police, and is currently before the courts for several outstanding charges.

The male is currently on a recognizance with a conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol, and not to be found in the District of New Hazelton.  The male was located and arrested for breach of recognizance.  The male remains in police custody pending a court appearance today.
