Multiple thefts and break ins reported

Criminal incidents continue into 2014 in Terrace, BC

The year 2013 finished and 2014 started with numerous break and enters and thefts in Terrace, report RCMP.

A dark grey Hyundai 7500 watt generator was stolen from a property on Ackroyd Rd sometime during the night of January 3rd/4th. Thieves used a sled to drag the generator away from the property.

A home on Tetrault St was broken into sometime between December 20th and January 1st. Numerous electronics, jewellery, liquor, cash, and a pink wallet containing identification documents were stolen.

During the night of December 29th/30th a generator was stolen from Northern Industrial Supply on Kalum St. Thieves cut the chain link fence to gain access to the yard.

On December 30th at 5:30 AM there was a break and enter to Elan Travel on Lakelse Ave. The thief was a man wearing a black jacket with a red hoodie under the jacket and pulled over his head.

Sometime between December 25th and December 30th a bobcat and trailer were stolen from a lot on Braun St. A lock on a gate was cut to gain access to the yard. The bobcat is a Caterpillar Model 262-B worth $28 000. It has C&J BENNEWORTH Ent Inc in red lettering on the side. The bobcat was on a yellow 2003 Double D flatdeck trailer, BC LP 63623C. The trailer also has C&J BENNEWORTH Ent Inc written on the side. There is a red 400 litre tidy tank on the trailer.

During the night of December 20/21 an orange Husqvarna snow blower, Model 96193008300 was stolen from Northern Industrial Supply on Kalum St. A fence in the back of the yard was cut to gain access.

Sometime towards the end of December approximately 24 various tires were stolen from a property on River Dr. A large hole was cut into the chain link fence to gain access to the property.

The number of thefts has RCMP telling people to take preventative measures.

"Take a walk around your house, property, or business and assess how secure your place is. If you are not sure of what to look for call the Terrace RCMP," says Terrace RCMP Constable Angela Rabut.

RCMP auxiliary constables are trained in preventative measures and can provide advice and tips to better secure property, she said.
