Girls approached by strangers in vehicles in two separate incidents

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 103 calls for service from June 12th, 8 a.m. till June 15th, 8 a.m.

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 103 calls for service from June 12th, 8 a.m. till June 15th, 8 a.m.

During the same time period, 11 people were lodged in Terrace cells – five of these people were lodged for intoxication.

Here are some of the calls responded to:

Shoplifting at Walmart. Under investigation.

Shoplifting at Real Canadian Wholesale Club. Under investigation.

On June 7th, a man described as Caucasian, bald, in his mid 30’s and driving a dark green Ford Van approached a 15-year-old girl walking alone on the 4600 block of Haugland Ave. and asked her if she wanted to go and party or grab something to eat. The girl refused.

A green Kawasaki 2002 motorcycle was pulled over when it passed an unmarked police car travelling 172 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. The 26-year-old driver was issued an excessive speed ticket. The motorcycle was impounded.

Man passed out inside of McDonald’s. Checks determined that the man was in breach of condition of undertaking to not consume alcohol. The 43-year-old man was arrested and is held for court.

A red 2006 Volkswagen Golf was pulled over on Clark St. for going 106 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone. The vehicle was also observed to go through a stop sign without stopping. The 17-year-old driver was issued an excessive speed ticket and the vehicle was towed.

A grey 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier was pulled over on Hemlock St. near Larch Ave. The 24-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition.

A man in the 2800 block of Sparks St. interrupted the theft of his truck stereo on June 13 just before 1 a.m. The thief fled.

Assist Terrace Fire Department with a vehicle fire in the 2800 block of Evergreen St. on June 13 just before 2 a.m. Investigation determined that a red 2006 Dodge 3500 truck parked in the area was vandalized by rocks. The second vehicle, a grey 2009 FMC Sierra Crewcab, had been lit on fire. A small white truck was seen in the area and may be associated to the vandals.

A blue 2009 GMC Sierra was pulled over on Thornhill Frontage Rd. The 39-year-old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. She was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition.

A man attempting to hurt himself on Lazelle Ave. On arrival, police observed a man covered in blood throw a rock and smash a car window. The intoxicated 30-year-old man was arrested. An injury was observed on the man’s chest. It was determined to be self-inflicted. BC Ambulance was requested and the man was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital.

A wallet containing various ID and cards and an Olympus camera were stolen from an unlocked black Nissan Pathfinder parked on Halliwell Ave. sometime during the night of June 12/13.

A bus parked on Loen Ave. was vandalized during the night of June 12/13. A 13-year-old boy was arrested. Under investigation.

The windows of a green Honda Civic parked on Newell Ave. were smashed out during the night of June 12/13.

Police observed four boys sleeping under a tree on the Arena hill. Checks determined that a 13-year-old boy was in breach a condition of undertaking of a no contact condition. He was arrested. Stolen items were found on his person. Charges are being forwarded.

An unlocked silver Honda Civic parked on Skoglund St. was rummaged through during the night of June 12/13. An iPod and change purse were stolen.

Disturbance on Park Ave. Domestic assault. A man assaulted a man and woman with a trailer wheel. He also vandalized a vehicle and smashed a cell phone. The 45-year-old man was arrested. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A man refused to pay his tab at a restaurant on Hwy 16. Police spoke with the 54-year-old man. He continued to be uncooperative and unreasonable. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

On June 13 at approximately 10 p.m., a man described as Caucasian, in his 40’s, heavier set, and brown hair driving a newer model dark blue truck asked a 14-year-old girl walking alone on the new bridge if she wanted a ride home. The girl refused.

A red Ford F350 was pulled over on Hwy 16/Hwy 37. The 29-year-old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fails. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

Deceased 87-year-old man at a residence on Sparks St.

Domestic dispute at a motel on Lakelse Ave. A woman was uncooperative with any attempts at seeking a resolution. The intoxicated 20-year-old woman was arrested. She was resistive and belligerent and additional members had to assist in the arrest.

Two intoxicated women lying on the sidewalk of Lazelle Ave./Eby St. They could not answer any questions due to their level of intoxication. The 37-year-old woman and 45-year-old woman were arrested.

A blue Honda Civic was pulled over on Substation Ave. The 30-year-old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in warns. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A taxi delivered a passed out intoxicated woman to the detachment. Police arrested the 18-year-old woman.

On June 14th at approximately noon, a black 1999 Ford F150 struck a green 2011 Toyota Sienna at Clark St./Hwy 16 east. Investigation determined that the driver and passenger of the Ford had been bear sprayed in the face while leaving the gas station which caused him to run into the Toyota. Under investigation.

A distraught woman at Hwy 16/Usk Ferry Rd. walking into the Skeena River and throwing herself on the ground. Police apprehended a 17-year-old girl under the Mental Health Act and transported her to Mills Memorial Hospital.

A white 2003 Ford F250 truck ignored a no trespass sign and drove onto hay fields causing damage on Kozier Rd. Under investigation.

Domestic dispute. A man forcibly entered a residence and pulled a woman outside and verbally assaulted her. The 24-year-old man was arrested. Drugs were seized from his person. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A boy on the roof of a residence on Haugland Ave. attempting to get inside by crawling through a window and a second boy on the ground. They fled when confronted by the home owners. Police located the boys, ages 12 and 13, at the mall. The 12-year-old boy was transported to the care of a guardian. Checks determined that the 13-year-old boy was in breach of a condition of undertaking of a no contact order and a curfew condition. He was arrested and released to his guardian. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
