A VEHICLE blaze has traffic stopped in both directions on the NIsga'a Hwy about 10 km north of Terrace this evening.
Police vehicles flashing their lights are parked on the north and south sides of the blaze, blocking traffic from passing a camper that caught fire earlier this evening.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, got out safely.
Witnesses said there were several explosions, which they believed were the tires.
A propane tank on the camper was expected to trip its release valve and prevent an explosion.
Since the vehicle is outside the fire protection area, Terrace city firefighters were not sent out to the blaze.
Forestry was called in case the foliage in the ditches and trees along the road ignited but were stood down when the fire didn't spread.
The blaze was expected to burn for several hours but it was believed that traffic would be open to one lane alternating at some point.
