Airport security seizes switchblade

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 140 calls for service from August 29th, 8 a.m. till September 2nd, 8 a.m.

During the same time period, 20 people were lodged in Terrace cells – 17 of these people were lodged for intoxication.

Here are some the calls responded to:

A pedestrian was struck by a white 2001 Dodge Dakota pulling a boat trailer on Eby St./Lazelle Ave. The Dodge left the scene of the accident. Police located the truck travelling on Lakelse Ave. The 33-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded. The 53-year-old pedestrian sustained minor injuries.

Criminal harassment and uttering threats investigation. A 35-year-old man was arrested and transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A Dewalt Planer/Jointer was stolen from a residence on Munthe Ave.

A black 2003 Honda Element was pulled over on Lakelse Ave./Legion Ave. The 28-year-old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fails. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded. He had an invalid Class 7 Driver's licence.

Domestic dispute. While police were speaking with the people involved, a 25-year-old man continued to cause a disturbance by shouting and challenging another man to fight. He refused to follow police direction and was arrested.

Three youths inside of a truck parked on McConnell Ave. They fled when confronted by the owner.

A grey 2014 GMC Sierra truck hit the ditch on Hwy 37 near the Water Lily Bay. It had hydro-planed due to water on the road from heavy rain. The driver sustained minor injuries. The vehicle was towed.

On August 30th at 1:45 a.m., police observed a man and woman yelling at each other get into a small green four-door sedan at the Northern Motor Inn and leave. Attempts were made to stop the vehicle. The vehicle drove into the Thornhill Fairgrounds then back onto Desjardins when it rapidly accelerated and fled from police. Under investigation to identify the driver.

The driver and passenger windows of a white 2007 Freightliner tractor parked on School St. were smashed out during the night of August 29/30.

Air emergency at the Terrace Airport. A Hawkair flight was returning to Terrace due to a mechanical issue. Police, BC Ambulance, and the Fire Departments attended for standby. The plane landed without problems.

Cabin on 1st Ave at Lakelse Lake on fire. The fire was put out by the Fire Department. Investigation determined that it was an outhouse that was burning and the damage was minimal.

A Brown Puma wallet containing various cards and ID was lost in the men's washroom of McDonald's on August 30th.

A black 2001 Pontiac Sunfire was checked at a roadblock on Queensway Dr. The 23-year-old driver provided a false name to police. He did not have a driver's licence and was prohibited from driving. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A green 2001 Mazda MPV was observed attempting to avoid a roadblock on Queensway Dr. The vehicle was pulled over. The 41-yea-old driver did not have a driver's licence and was an impound candidate. The vehicle he was driving was towed. He was issued a driving prohibition.

A black 2007 Dodge Ram was pulled over on Hwy 16 near Ferry Island for going 100 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone. The 51-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A white Jeep Patriot was pulled over on Hwy 16 near Ferry Island. The 29-year-old driver had a notice to serve a prohibition. Same done.

A black 2012 GMC truck was pulled over on Hwy 16/37. The 26-year-old driver was observed jumping into the rear seat. He refused to provide a sample of breath into a roadside screening device. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded. A 28-year-old intoxicated passenger in the vehicle was acting aggressively towards police. He was arrested.

A switchblade knife was seized from a 24-year-old passenger by Airport Security and turned over to police for destruction.

Hit and run to a black 2013 Honda Civic parked by the rental car/carwash area at the Terrace Airport sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on August 31st. Damage to the rear driver's side door and mirror.

A grey 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche was pulled over on Hwy 16 near the new bridge for going 80 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone. The 58-year-old driver exited the vehicle attempting to hide drug paraphernalia. He was arrested for driving while disqualified. An amount of drugs, cash, weapons, and drug paraphernalia were seized. Under investigation.

A black wallet depicting an owl on it containing a card was lost possibly at the McDonald's about two weeks ago.

Police checked a grey 2005 Pontiac Montana parked at the BC Liquor Store. The vehicle had been stolen out of New Hazelton. The registered owner and New Hazelton RCMP were notified.

A woman and man having public sex in a vacant lot on Park Ave. Police spoke with the man and woman. Under investigation due to a breach of a no contact condition.

Domestic dispute. A man slashed the tires of a woman's vehicle. Police arrested a 41-year-old man. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Disturbance at a residence. A 23-year-old suicidal woman was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.

Suicidal woman. Police apprehended a 25-year-old woman under the Mental Health Act and transported her to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment. Police were called back to the residence a short time later and numerous people were spoken with and a resolution reached.

A black Samsung Galaxy Nexus cell phone in a black and green case went missing, possibly in a taxi on August 31st.
