Chances Terrace to change hands
A hospitality conglomerate based in Grand Prairie, Alberta wants to purchase Chances Terrace.
Pomeroy Lodging, which currently operates Chances Fort St. John, announced today it intends to acquire the Chances community gaming centre in Terrace.
“We are excited to be expanding our portfolio into Terrace, as we grow the gaming side of the business; an area that we are very passionate about,” said Ryan Pomeroy, President of Pomeroy Lodging in a release sent out this afternoon. “While we invest in energy based markets, we also believe that investing in communities to help build other industries and local jobs, provides stability for our organization and the community as a whole.”
Pomeroy Lodging, which began in the Peace region of B.C., owns and manages a number of hotels, restaurants and gaming centres in B.C. and Alberta.
The deal is pending British Columbia Lottery Commission (BCLC) and provincial gaming policy and enforcement branch approval, and if approved, keys will swap hands June 30.
Chances Terrace is one of 19 Chances properties around the province which fall under the BCLC umbrella. BCLC manages gaming facilities and lottery services for the province, service providers like Pomeroy Lodging own or lease and operate the facilities, and money from gaming is dispersed through community grants annually.
If the deal is approved, Pomeroy Lodging will take over management of the casino from Lucky Dollar Bingo Management Ltd.
Chances Terrace was formerly called the Lucky Dollar Bingo Palace.
Pomeroy Lodging president Ryan Pomeroy will be on hand at Chances tomorrow over the lunch hour.
