'Explosive' turns out to be old diaper
Terrace RCMP responded to 43 calls for service from April 8th, 8 a.m. till April 9th, 8 a.m.
During the same time period, there were six people lodged in Terrace cells – four of these people were lodged for intoxication.
Motor vehicle collision on Kalum St./Lakelse Ave. A woman was opening the door of a grey Honda car when a white 2011 Mazda 3 came around a corner and struck the open door. She was taken to Mills Memorial Hospital by BC Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. A vehicle was towed.
Group of people drinking alcohol on the stairs of a business on Greig Ave. Police spoke with the group and some alcohol was dumped.
Shoplifter at Safeway. Staff attempted to apprehend the man. He ran away. Later in the day the same man was causing a disturbance on Lakelse Ave. by being intoxicated. Police arrested the 37-year-old man. An amount of marijuana was seized from his person. Under investigation.
Abandoned 911 call. Numerous queries have been made. Attempts are still underway to ensure the person’s well-being.
Intoxicated man passed out in the ATM lobby of TD Bank. He left prior to police attendance. He was located on Lakelse Ave. and spoken with.
Group of people loitering and drinking in an alley behind Lakelse Ave. The group dispersed upon seeing police.
Police observed an intoxicated man and woman following another man on Lakelse Ave./Emerson St. yelling obscenities and threats. The 35-year-old woman and the 47-year-old man were arrested. A third man continually interrupted the police officer and refused to stop. The 38-year-old man was arrested for obstruction. Attempts to find the man who was being chased were made.
Staff of Shopper’s Drug Mart followed a shoplifter out of the store. Police arrested the intoxicated 37-year-old man in the parking lot. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A person in an old blue camper van with a white roof left without paying for his gas at the Safeway Gas Bar. His bank card was left behind.
False business alarm on Lakelse Ave.
Theft of a truck. Under investigation.
Possible marijuana grow. Police examined the area. Unfounded complaint.
Breach of curfew. The 16-year-old boy was arrested on another matter.
Assault. A 17-year-old girl punched a 16-year-old girl. Under investigation.
Warrants were issued for a 38-year-old woman, a 38-year-old man, 19-year-old man, 24-year-old woman, 17-year-old boy, and 21-year-old man for failing to attend court.
Abandoned 911 call. Police spoke with a woman and she was fine.
Ongoing issue of a person smoking marijuana in an apartment building.
False business alarm on Kerby St.
A woman yelling at a man at Mills Memorial Hospital. The woman had injuries to her face and stated that the man had assaulted her. The couple left prior to police attendance. Checks were done of the area.
Group of people drinking on Park Ave. in front of the library. Police spoke with a group of people.
Rocks being thrown at the front door of a residence on Lazelle Ave. Two youth were located in the area. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on outstanding warrants and for failing to comply with his curfew. He is held for court. A 14-year-old boy was driven to his residence.
Argumentative person at Mills Memorial Hospital. Police spoke with the man and a resolution was reached.
Breach of probation investigation.
Erratic driver in a grey Camry on Hwy 16 in front of the sawmill.
A grey 2012 Ford Focus was pulled over on Hwy 37 near the Furlough Bay Campsite. An odour of marihuana was detected. The 24-year-old driver and 25-year-old passenger were arrested. An amount of marijuana was seized. The driver did not have a valid driver’s licence.
A gel type substance was found in a bundle on a person’s lawn. The person was familiar with explosives and was sure that it was explosive. Police examined the substance and determined it to be an old diaper.
False business alarm on Kalum Lake Road.
Drug information received.
A bow and arrow was found at a residence on Thornhill St. and turned into police.
Ongoing issues with a reckless driver in an older model K car dark purplish hue in colour.
A blue 2012 Chevrolet Cruz was pulled over on Old Lakelse Lake Dr./Hwy 37. The 24-year-old driver had a notice to serve a prohibition. Same done.
Drug information received.
False residential alarm on Clark St. It was cancelled prior to police attendance.
Missing 88-year-old man with a medical condition. He was located shortly after the call.
