Highway 16 claims another life in three-vehicle crash

Another motorist has died on Hwy 16.

Just after 9 a.m. on Saturday January 25th, 2014, the RCMP's 9-1-1 call centre received a report of a collision on Highway 16 near Mug Flat Creek, approximately 15 kilometres east of New Hazelton in northwestern B.C., reported Hazelton RCMP Jan. 25.

Emergency services, including the RCMP, are currently on-scene, police said at about 10:48 a.m.

Once on scene, New Hazelton RCMP officers determined that three vehicles were involved and one person had passed away.

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as they become available.

At this time, Highway 16 is closed in both directions and is expected to be for several hours.

No alternative route is available.
