Truck smashes into rock wall at end of driveway
The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 90 calls for service from December 12th, 8 AM till December 16th, 8 AM. During the same time period there have been 13 people lodged in Terrace Cells. Five of these people were lodged for public intoxication.
Here are some of the calls responded to:
Theft from an unlocked vehicle parked at Mills Memorial Hospital. A man and woman returned a wallet and other items to an employee of the hospital and informed him that they were stolen from his vehicle. Police followed up with a suspect and recovered other items.
Neighbourhood dispute on Old Remo road involving the cutting down of trees. Police spoke with the people involved and provided advice on the matter.
Loss Prevention Officer of Walmart arrested a 19 yr old shoplifter. Under investigation.
Landlord/tenant dispute. A tenant would not let a landlord access to a rental unit for emergency purposes. Police attended and kept the peace while the landlord entered the unit.
Loss Prevention Officer of Walmart arrested two girls both 12 years of age for shoplifting. Under investigation.
Possible impaired driver sitting in a running red 2004 Chevrolet Suburban parked outside the Northern Motor Inn. The 61 yr old driver was arrested.
A woman found her boyfriend in bed with another woman. She assaulted her boyfriend and then attacked the woman. A fight ensued. Police spoke with the people involved, all were intoxicated. A 24 yr old man was arrested. Under investigation.
While investigating an assault police observed a man drive a black 2002 Subaru. The 24 yr old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fails. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
A grey 2009 Honda Pilot was travelling westbound on Lakelse Ave at Sparks St when it was side swiped by a grey 103 Honda Civic. The driver of the Civic was elderly. Under investigation.
A 31 yr old man reported that he was struck by a blue 2012 Ford truck pulling out of the Totem Ford Parking lot. Police spoke with the people involved and received conflicting versions of events. The man had a minor injury. The vehicle was not damaged.
Shoplifters at Shoppers Drug Mart on Lakelse Ave. Under investigation.
A white Dodge truck was pulled over on Sharples Rd. The 49 yr old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fail. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
Police pulled over a black 1988 Ford Ranger on Kalum St/Lazelle Ave. The smell of marihuana was detected. The driver and passenger were arrested. Checks determined that the 18 yr old driver was prohibited from driving. Charges of driving while prohibited are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The vehicle was impounded. An amount of marihuana was seized.
A man woke to a loud bang in his yard. A silver Dodge Dakota had smashed into a rock wall near the end of his driveway and was observed fleeing. The truck drove over the man’s foot as it was fleeing. Fortunately steel toe boats prevented an injury. Police located a parked truck matching the description. Two highly intoxicated men were spoken with inside of a residence. Under investigation.
The driver’s side and passenger’s side windows of a white 2012 GMC Sierra truck were smashed out while it was parked overnight at Mr Mike’s. A black IPod Nano and wallet containing various cards and ID were stolen.
The window of a white 2012 Jeep Wrangler was smashed out while parked at Mr Mike’s. Insurance papers were stolen.
The driver’s side window of a black 2001 Honda Civic was smashed out while parked at the Terrace Arena overnight. Nothing was known to be stolen.
Police found a stolen grey 2001 Saturn parked in a driveway on Sparks St. A 35 yr old woman was arrested. The vehicle was stolen out of New Hazelton.
12 yr old girl refusing to leave Walmart and go home with her mother. Police spoke with the girl at Walmart and took her home.
A blue 2005 Mazda hit the ditch and rolled on Hwy 113 north of the dump. The driver lost control on the slippery road while navigating a turn. No injuries.
Police witnessed a truck turn left onto Hwy 16 from Clark St into the path of a speeding westbound car. The car veered, almost struck two pedestrians, and did hit the pickup. Police pulled the car over and spoke with a 37 yr old driver. Under investigation.
Intoxicated suicidal man out of control inside of a residence damaging things. Police arrested the 29 yr old man without incident.
Domestic dispute. A 28 yr old woman was arrested. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A blue 1992 Nissan Pathfinder hit the ditch on Queensway Dr. The driver of a blue 2004 Chevrolet Venture Van observed the Nissan losing control and attempted to slow down, but also lost control and hit the ditch. No injuries and no damage to the vehicles.
Airport Security seized a switchblade knife from a passenger.
A grey 2010 Chevrolet Impala was pulled over on Hwy 113 near Rosswood. The 53 yr old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fails. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
A man was hit by a vehicle driven by his girlfriend near Emerson St. No injuries. Under investigation.
