Another vet headed to Terrace, BC
CITY council is considering a zoning amendment which would lead to the opening of a veterinary clinic at the All West mall on the corner of Tetrault and Keith.
The application from veterinarian Jatinder Kang will be voted on by council at its Sept. 26 meeting.
Mayor David Pernarowski said at the August 26 council meeting that Kang has seized on a “good opportunity for someone to open another clinic.”
There are now two vet clinics in the area but demand for vet services has local residents traveling to Kitimat and to Prince Rupert.
The All West mini-mall is zoned C3-Service Commercial which does not allow for veterinary clinics in its list of permitted uses, something that the amendment will change.
Councillor Brian Downie, speaking at the Aug. 26 council meeting, wondered why a complete rezoning of the mall property was needed given that the clinic will take up one unit.
Planner David Block said zoning for the whole mall needed amendment, not just a single unit.
