Man struck by the mirror of a passing truck flown to Vancouver hospital
Terrace RCMP are currently investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that happened yesterday evening.
Around 5 p.m. yesterday, Dec. 15, Terrace RCMP were notified that a pedestrian was struck by the mirror of a passing pick up truck. The 30-year-old driver of the pick up truck was sober and cooperative with police.
The 20-year-old male victim, from Prince George B.C., was in town for a funeral.
The victim was taken to Terrace's Mills Memorial Hospital where he regained consciousness and was reportedly able to walk around.
But his condition soon changed and dramatically declined due to a possible brain injury. He was then flown to Vancouver Hospital for specialized medical treatment.
“RCMP Victim Services are assisting the family at this very difficult time,” said Const. Lesley Smith, North District media relations officer.
Terrace RCMP and the Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the collision.
RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or can provide police with information that may assist with this investigation, to please contact the Terrace RCMP at (250) 638-7400.
