Driver hits snowbank, arrested for drug possession
HERE'S A rundown of the events that kept police busy for the past 24 hours.
The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 22 calls for service from December 4, 8 a.m. till December 5, 8 a.m. During the same time period, there have been four people lodged in Terrace Cells. Two of these people were lodged for pubic intoxication.
false business alarm on Kalum.
uttering threats investigation. Police spoke with a witness. Unsubstantiated.
a wallet was found outside of the Skeena Mall. The owner has been contacted to pick it up.
a white 1996 Ford Cougar acting suspicious on Mountain Vista Dr. The 20-year-old driver did not have insurance on the vehicle. An amount of drugs was seized.
theft of wallet while a person was sleeping on Haugland Ave. A platinum ring with a ruby heart and medications were also stolen.
a red satin Oriental style wallet was lost on December 1, maybe at Walmart. It contained an amount of cash and receipts.
intoxicated man at Kenney St./Medeek Ave. Checks were done of area.
erratic driver in a dark red van on Bailey St./Mountain Vista Ave. Checks were done of area.
a grey 2003 Ford Taurus in a snowbank in the Walmart parking lot. Police observed a man passed out in the driver's seat with the vehicle still running. The 28-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving. Police seized an amount of drugs and cash from the man. He was arrested for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. The man was issued a driving suspension for being impaired by drug. Charges of drug trafficking are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
false business alarm on Keith Ave.
suspicious people outside of a residence on Haugland Ave. Checks were done. Unfounded.
police transported an intoxicated man and woman to the shelter. Shortly after police were called back because the man and woman were displaying behavior that denied them access to the shelter. Police arrested the 45-year-old woman and the 47-year-old man for public intoxication.
possible intoxicated driver in a green Jeep on Hwy 16. Checks were done of the area and registered owner's residence.
false 911 call from a business on Desjardins Ave.
domestic dispute. Verbal argument. A man was breaching his conditions to not be outside of his residence when under the influence of alcohol, and not to be in the presence of a person when under the influence of alcohol. Police arrested the 46-year-old man for breach x 2. He is held for court.
a woman wanted a man removed from a residence due to verbal abuse. Police spoke with the people involved. No offence was committed and the man was not removed.
Suspicious occurrence. A man described as unknown, Caucasian, approximately 30-years-old, blue eyes, short hair, driving a silver Colorado pick up truck offered a ride to two girls ages 11 and eight on Dover Rd.
A mother living in another province had concerns and wanted police to check on her daughter who is now living with the father here. Police spoke with the girl. She was fine.
CN railway truck obstructing roadway on Hwy 16 West of Terrace. Police spoke with CN.
suicidal 14-year-old girl.
police assisted the Ministry of Children and Families with a check of a residence.
