College has re-opened
IT'S back to business as usual today at Northwest Community College in Terrace.
Its Terrace campus was closed late morning yesterday after a bomb threat was received.
Students, instructors and employees were ordered to leave behind personal belongings and depart as quickly and as orderly as possible.
RCMP officers quickly cordoned off the area, using a mobile emergency command services vehicle to coordinate their activities.
A bomb-sniffing dog brought in late yesterday afternoon from Prince George went through buildings and vehicles.
"The NWCC Campus at Terrace has been reopened," read an announcement on the college's website last night.
"The public safety risk previously reported has been investigated by the RCMP and the service is reporting all clear for a return to regular operations. Thank you for your patience and welcome back."
For some, leaving the campus quickly meant exiting without personal belongings, including wallets, cellphones and car keys.
Dorm students were offered space at a local church and college officials worked out of an office at the Terrace campus of the University of Northern British Columbia.
