Terrace man dies after car leaves HWY16
After a vehicle left HWY 16 in Terrace yesterday and slid down an embankment toward the Skeena River, its single occupant was later pronounced dead at Mills Memorial Hospital.
Local RCMP are investigating what caused single-vehicle collision at the east entrance to the city, said an RCMP press release.
"RCMP receive a report at 1: 40 Saturday afternoon that a vehicle had run off the highway and was possibly in the Skeena River," said the release. "Police, fire and ambulance attend to find the lone occupant in medical distress."
"The vehicle did not enter the water, but did knock down a light pole prior to traveling down the embankment on the north side of the highway," said the release.
"RCMP and paramedics initiated CPR, however the driver was pronounced deceased upon arrival to Mills Memorial Hospital. The driver has been identified as 60 year old Leslie Philip Sinnott of Terrace."
