Nass Valley RCMP seize illegal drugs from speeding vehicle

LISIMS/NASS Valley RCMP officers intercepted an alleged drug trafficker after they stopped a speeding vehicle on the Nisga'a Hwy that was travelling to New Aiyansh March 30.

Terrace's Alvin Martin Tremblay, 30, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of breaching a court order, said Lisims/Nass Valley RCMP detachment commander Sgt. Donovan Tait.

Officers found cocaine, marijuana, marijuana cigarettes, scales, baggies, grinders and ammunition after searching the vehicle, where Tremblay was seated beside the driver, said Tait.

Tremblay had more than $300 in cash on his person, he added.

Tremblay was remanded into custody over the weekend and is scheduled to appear in Terrace provincial court April 1.
