Cullen in third place after first ballot at NDP leadership convention
LOCAL NATHAN Cullen took third place in the first ballot of the NDP leadership convention vote earlier today.
He received 10,671 votes for 16.39 per cnet of the vote, behind Brian Topp's 13,915 votes (21.37 per cent) in second and Thomas Mulcair topping the votes with 19,728 (30.3 per cent).
Peggy Nash came fourth with 8,353 votes for 12,83 per cnet of the vote.
The three remaining candidates, Paul Dewar, Martin Singh and Niki Ashton, did not proceed past the first ballot, each getting less than 10 per cnet of the vote.
With voting problems online due to slow loading of the pages, the second ballot has been extended twice and is set to end at 1:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (10:30 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.).
Second ballot results are expected around 10:45 a.m. Pacific time (1:45 p.m. Eastern)
