Regional district starts new term

THE REGIONAL District of Kitimat-Stikine directors, representatives and alternates took their oath of office tonight to start their terms of office.

Municipal directors include City of Terrace mayor Dave Pernarowski and Bruce Bidgood, District of Kitimat councillor Corinne Scott, Hazelton mayor Alice Maitland, District of New Hazelton mayor Gail Lowry and District of Stewart councillor Billie-Ann Belcher.

Electoral directors include incumbent Harry Nyce Sr. of Gitwinksilhkw for the Nass Valley, newcomer Linda Pierre for the Hazeltons, newcomer Doug McLeod for the area around Terrace, incumbent David Brocklebank for Telegraph Creek, Bob Quinn Lake and Iskut, incumbent Ted Ramsey for Thornhill and incumbent Darcie Frocklage for Dease Lake.

Alternates are Terrace city councillors James Cordeiro and Brian Downie and District of New Hazelton councillor Pieter Weeber.

Harry Nyce was voted in as chair after being nominated by Alice Maitland.

This year's vice chair is Alice Maitland.

Lowry couldn't make it to the meeting and neither could Brocklebank, who participated by phone. He had been sworn in earlier in the week by administrator Bob Marcellin.
