Home invasion injures two and leads police to drugs and cash
A Thornhill home invasion that injured two led Terrace RCMP to seize cocaine, ecstacy, marijuana and cash from the scene, although suspects of the break and enter have not been found.
During Sunday morning's early hours, Terrace RCMP were called to Mills Memorial Hospital where a male was being treated for serious injuries, which police determined were the result of an aggravated assault, according to an RCMP press release today.
The assault happened at what RCMP call a “well known drug and party house” on the 3300 block of River Drive in Thornhill. When they arrived, another male was injured at the scene. After getting warrants to search the house, police seized cocaine, marijuana, ecstacy and money.
“I don't have exact quantities,” said RCMP Insp. Dana Hart, estimating there was about one quarter pound of marijuana, less than 150 tabs of ecstasy and a small amount of cocaine.
Tests and processing to determine the amounts are still underway, he said.
The investigation into who is responsible for the break and enter and attacks is also underway, Hart continued.
While police haven't yet identified suspects, they're confident it was a targeted attack.
“We're concerned about any sort of escalation in this type of violence,” said Hart. “But unlike in Kitimat, we almost definitely know it was a targeted invasion.”
Hart said one of the victims suffered numerous lacerations, which are cuts in the skin resulting from a sharp object, although what caused them is yet to be know, said Hart.
