Terrace council hopefuls start filing

WITH just one day left before the nomination deadline for local government elections, more people are filing papers at Terrace city hall.

Bruce Martindale, a one-term city councillor, is now officially a candidate for mayor and will go up against incumbent Dave Pernarowski.

Restauranteur James Cordeiro, unsuccessful in trying for a council seat in the 2008 elections, filed this morning for what will be a second attempt.

Sitting council members Lynne Christiansen and Brian Downie have also filed.

Joining them so far are newcomers Mike Ross, Stacey Tyers and Dan LeFrancois.

Sitting councillor Bruce Bidgood has also indicated he will run but has yet to officially supply all of the required nomination form documentation.
