RCMP street crew had busy summer
THE RCMP street crew did a lot of work this summer to keep the city safe and secure.
The street crew, known as the Terrace Crime Reduction Unit or CRU, had an effective presence in the summer with its three full time members, said Terrace RCMP spokesperson Const. Angela Rabut.
When the detachment identified a problem area, the CRU would focus on it, she said.
For the period of July through August, the officers made 86 arrests for public intoxication, pursued 57 criminal code charges, did 116 bail condition checks, executed 10 warrants, and issued 20 park bans.
Furthermore, CRU issued violation tickets: 81 under the Motor Vehicle Act, 126 under the Liquor
Control and Licencing Act, and 22 under Bylaws.
Due to the frequent inclement weather this summer, CRU did not do any bike patrols.
Instead, the officers conducted 25 foot patrols and 48 vehicle patrols.
On top of all this, CRU assisted Terrace General Duty members with 199 calls.
The CRU's mandate is to make Terrace a safer place by focusing on criminality in Terrace, including the downtown core.
