Police busy during May long weekend

Local RCMP were out in full force in the surrounding area over the May long weekend, enhancing its patrol in local campgrounds like Red Sands and Furlong Bay.

The police dealt with a number of incidents stemming from the Red Sands area.

While the detachment says there were no major incidents, it received 137 calls during weekend, which is nine more than last year's May long weekend.

There were four calls related to impaired operation of a motor vehicle, 36 liquor-related calls, and seven calls were related to noise.

The number of prisoners was up as well, 56 this year compared to 42 from last year.
