Terrace RCMP officer charged with assault

A LOCAL RCMP officer faces a charge of assault after an alleged incident last fall.

Const. Robert Hull had been charged with assault in relation to an on-duty incident Oct. 17, reported police today.

It's alleged that Hull punched an intoxicated woman in the police cell block here after he arrested outside a local night club Oct. 17, reported police on a statement.

“The Terrace Detachment Commander launched an RCMP Internal Code of Conduct Investigation as well as a Criminal Investigation. The incident was investigated by the Terrace RCMP under the supervision of the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP,” said the police release.

“All investigative findings were forwarded to Crown Counsel who, on February 23, 2011, laid one count of assault against Const. Hull.”

Hull has been on administrative duties since both investigations were launched.

Hull is scheduled to make his first court appearance here March 22.
