Roberts returns as Kitsumkalum chief councillor
Don Roberts has been voted back in for his third term as Kitsumkalum chief councillor after band council elections were held Feb. 28.
The returning chief councillor received 165 votes, beating out contender James Webb who received 51.
Four Kitsumkalum councillors will be returning to their posts as well: Cynthia Bohn, Lisa Wesley, Troy Sam and Wayne Bolton. Ernie Gerow and Susan Spalding fill the remaining two positions.
These six had the most votes out of the 21 candidates who put their names on the ballot.
There were 1,206 valid ballots cast for the councillors, with Bohn coming out at the top with 119 votes. She's followed by Wesley's 111 votes, and Sam and Gerow's tie at 94 votes each. Bolton received 85 votes, while Spalding came in with 75 votes.
Band elections are held every two years, and the new band council becomes official March 8.
