Search for new super continues
THE SEARCH for a new superintendent and a new secretary treasurer for the Coast Mountain School District continues.
School board chair Barry Pankhurst said the search is being spearheaded by the B.C. Public School Employers Association (BCPSEA) under the direction of the board.
“[The search is] still in its early stages, we have to see what happens down the road,” Pankhurst said of looking for a new superintendent. “The board is looking at all options available.”
According to Pankhurst, keeping interim superintendent Nancy Wells in the position is an option if she’s willing to stay.
Wells was brought in after Rob Greenwood suddenly retired from the superintendent’s job last fall.
Pankhurst said the search is spanning across Canada and into the United States.
“There have even been some suggestions to look at people from Europe,” Pankhurst said.
He hopes the board will have a clear direction set out the next time it meets.
The district also needs a secretary treasurer following the departure of Linda Brown who left at nearly the same time as Greenwood did.
District employee Alanna Cameron has been filling in while the search continues.
