Brief power outage affects Terrace

A POWER outage that plunged the whole city and area into darkness just after 5:30 p.m. this evening was caused by a transmission circuit failure according to BC Hydro.

The power came back on about 6 p.m. after being out in downtown Terrace, the Horseshoe and the Bench areas of the city. Also affected was Thornhill and points south.

BC Hydro said the outage affected about 9,500 people and that a circuit failure is a "transmission outage; usually affecting a large area or a number of substations."
