Ripcord sees two elderly ladies make a bet that seems harmless but the stakes are raised higher and higher in this comedy that borders on farce in the Veritas Grade 9 production playing June 7 and 8.

Cantankerous Abby has to share her upper floor room with Marilyn, described as chipper, which infuriates Abby, who wants the newcomer to leave so she can have her room all to herself once again.

They challenge each other with a bet that becomes a gameof one upmanship that takes them to the point of revealing truths about themselves that they would rather have remain hidden.

Director Jo-Anne Voogd said she chose the play because she had three boys and three girls and looked for a production that included all six.

Rehearsal looks different than what the play description reads and Voogd says it’s a play within a play.

Aria Viveiros is Abby, Sierra De Medeiros is Marilyn, Tom Yasinchuk is Scotty a prisoner, Franco Fewer is Derek a zombie butler, Bryton Gaudet is a black and white harlequin clown and Makenna Harris is Colleen.
