Proud students packed into the city hall council chambers last night to accept awards for their hard work in making their schools clean.
The Greater Terrace Beautification Society handed out its annual Cleanest Schoolyard Awards to six schools last night.
Beautification Society's president Chris Hansen said she was impressed with the efforts the schools made.
"Your schoolyards delighted us as judges, so you're making a difference in your schoolyard," she told the students. "Hopefully you're doing that at home and in our community, and we thank you."
Thornhill Secondary and Parkside were awarded for civic pride, while Thornhill Elementary and Thornhill Primary got awards for exceptional effort.
Schools with outstanding maintenance were Uplands and Ecole Mountainview.
