PURSUING THE twin goals of science and innovation in northwestern BC is the aptly-named Northwest Science and Innovation Society.
Based in Terrace its job is to foster a culture of innovation in the region and emphasize the role science can take in the area.
The task was recognized with through a donation of $1,000 by the Northwest Savings Credit Union's Terrace branch during Credit Union Week, Oct. 15-19.
Each of the four credit union branches within the Northern Savings network received $15,000 to distribute.
Credit union chair Nirmal Parmar, a Terrace resident, noted the contributions made by community organizations.
“On behalf of the board and employees, I want you to know how much we value the work that you do that is enriching the lives of our communities.” he said.

Terrace Crime Stoppers Society received $1,000.
Terrace Old Age Pensioners Assoc. received $1500.
My Recreational Mountain Co-operative received $1,000.
The Terrace Art Association received $600.
The Terrace 3 Breed Classic Horse Show received $500.
Caledonia Secondary School received $,1500.
The Skeena Valley Fall Fair received $2,000.
Pacific Northwest Regional Science Fair received $750.
The Northwest Science and Innovation Society received $1,000.
The 747 Unicorn Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron received $500.
The Terrace Biathlon group received $1,000.
Terrace Search & Rescue received $1,150.
