THE TWO winners of the Fire Chief for a Day contest put out a blaze at the city fire hall as one of the things they got to do today.
Kendall Hamel, 6-1/2, and Michael Auckland, 8, each wore a firefighter's jacket for their tour around the city fire hall and extinguished a blaze with lightning speed.
Their day started with a fire engine coming to pick them up at school followed by breakfast at McDonalds with firefighters, city officials and RCMP officers.
The annual contest is open to all Terrace and Thornhill students from kindergarten to Grade 6. Entry forms are given out at school and had to be into the fire hall or contest sponsor McDonalds by the deadline of Oct. 14.
