Ksan to offer free comfort food meals

KSAN HOUSE Society hosts three free meals next week to help families through the time before this month's food bank and other assistance.

KSAN HOUSE Society hosts Comfort Food Week to help families through the time before this month's food bank and other assistance they may receive.

"We are offering three days of lunch or early supper next week at Ksan Place (old emergency shelter) as January is tough for lots of families after Christmas expenses, 35 days between income assistance cheques, the food bank is not until Jan. 16-19, and Good Food Box is on Thursday," says Marianne Brorup Weston, community connector for Ksan House Society.

On Monday, Jan. 9 will be a hot bowl of chili from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Wednesday Jan. 11 will be an old fashioned beef stew from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Friday Jan. 13 will feature barbecue bunwiches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ksan Place, located behind the shelter at 2812 Hall St.

Everyone is welcome to stop by for a bite to eat.

Containers will be available for anyone who wants to take some food to a shut-in person.

If you people who are interested in volunteering with food preparation, they can call and leave a message with Darlene at 635-2373 ext. 27.
