A crowd gathered at the Howe Creek Trail yesterday for a ceremony celebrating its contribution to the community and its history.
The 2.5 kilometre trail has two entrances. One on Bailey Street, and the other at at Christy Park on Sparks Street.
Community members and partners in both the trail and park's conception and maintenance gathered to give speeches, walk the trail, unveil a new visitor-information sign and eat cake.
"Maybe the future will see Howe Creek as a beautiful fish bearing creek that runs into the Skeena River once again," said Chris Hansen of the Greater Terrace beautification society.
