THE TERRACE Churches Food Bank is now closed for the summer but not before giving out 670 bags of food to about 420 families in its second year of opening for one week in June.
The shelves are bare and the bit of perishable food that was left over was taken to the food kitchen, said food bank vice-president John Wiebenga.
Many volunteers came out to help.
“It was great,” said Wiebenga.
“We had lots of volunteers.
“I certainly tried to thank everybody for volunteering the times they did through the course of the year. Without them, we wouldn’t be firing [on all cylinders.]”
