THE Lisims/Nass Valley RCMP and Gitwinksihlkw Elementary School (GES) partnered up to promote bicycle and road safety with their students in celebration of Bike to Work Week last week.

Division 2 students at GES created bike safety posters and winners of each grade were selected by members of the RCMP detachment.

The RCMP detachment donated three brand new bicycle helmets for the winning students.

The winning students were:

Grade 5 : Mary Angus

Grade 4: Queenie Wesley

Grade 3: Ruby Azak

"All of the students all winners as far as we are concerned .... all the detachment's officers assisted with the judging of the posters and they were all very good, " said RCMP Sgt. Donovan Tait, the officer in charge of the Lisims/Nass Valley RCMP detachment.

"The safety of our Nation's youth is of our utmost priority. The time spent in the classroom and engaging these young people on bicycle and road safety is time well spent."
