THE YOUNG people of Gingolx (Kincolith) are taking a stand against alcohol and illegal drugs in their community today, Saturday March 3.
The "Take Back the Community" march will see youths in full regalia and their supporters walk from the new hall, starting at 3 p.m., to the longhouse at the other end of the community.
They will gather at the hall at 2:30 p.m.
“Bootlegging and/or drug dealing will no longer be tolerated,” said the young people in a recent release from the Gingolx Village Government Social Development Department.
"We want a better future for ourselves and this march is to send that message," the release continued.
Chiefs, matriarchs and others have been asked to come in their traditional regalia to help the young people sing traditional songs as they march.
Even if people don't have regalia, they are asked to come to show support for their sons, daughters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Refreshments will be available at the longhouse at the end of the march.
