THE TERRACE Churches Food Bank received a generous gift from a local group this week.

The Knights of Columbus presented food bank vice-president John Wiebenga with a cheque for $5,000 as part of the Knights' annual donations.

Food bank volunteers conclude their first week being open for the winter today, seeing anyone who was missed during the past three days.

Wiebenga said the food bank has the most food donated to it ever and has boxes of items stacked to the ceiling in places.

However, the food bank does give out lots of items to many families at each opening and does need donations to keep coming in.
